MEET SYLVIA

Sylvia began her career in education as an English teacher and NYC Teaching Fellow. â€‹A lifelong, dedicated educator and thought leader in college admissions, Sylvia is frequently featured on the University Network, in parenting magazines, and in education-related segments on news networks. Sylvia’s deep commitment to education has propelled her into influential roles throughout her career as an educator and admissions expert, first with Princeton University Admissions, then as Director of Enrollment at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation (now the Institute for Citizens and Scholars), and as Assistant Director of Admissions at the CUNY School of Journalism.

Growing up just thirty minutes from Princeton, Sylvia spent her youth attending Princeton lectures on weekends. Her experience at Princeton University Admissions opened her eyes to the types of achievements and profiles that successful applicants present to elite universities. She works with students from coast to coast in the United States, as well as international students from all over Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. At the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, Sylvia became an expert in pathways to elite fellowships. She worked closely with former Columbia Teachers College President Arthur Levine to transform teacher preparation models and improve STEM outcomes for U.S. students and was honored to meet the esteemed SNCC leader, civil rights activist, and educator Robert Parris Moses. Sylvia also helped expand the Woodrow Wilson program to four states and sixteen universities, conducting admissions program recruitment for university partners ranging from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor to Purdue and Ohio State. She was also instrumental in research documenting the program’s national success in partnership with the Urban Institute think tank.

Dedicated to improving outcomes for children in the U.S. and globally, Sylvia has served on many advisory boards throughout her career, including the advisory board of Serbian Crown Princess Katherine KaraÄ‘orÄ‘ević, Lifeline, and the Tesla Society, partnering with New York Governor Pataki’s office to dedicate July 10th as "Nikola Tesla Day" in New York City.

Leveraging her unique background as a teacher, admissions officer, and admissions thought leader, Sylvia excels at uncovering the distinctive strengths and stories of each student. Her personalized approach empowers aspiring scholars to achieve their goals and gain admission to the nation’s most selective institutions of higher education. With unwavering dedication, Sylvia has earned a reputation as a transformative educational advocate, guiding students toward realizing their fullest academic and personal potential and creating impactful change in the world.
